Dorothy Mae Williams

Dorothy Mae Williams was born in Selma, AL on May 4, 1933, to the late Richard and Lela Dower. God called her home to rest on December 31, 2021. She confessed Christ at a very early age and trusted Him all her life. Dorothy read her bible everyday and was a true pillar of the family. Dorothy Mae grew up in Selma, AL with 17 brothers and sisters. Her mom had three sets of twins including herself. She graduated from Brantley High School and her first home church was Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In 1953 she met and married the late Henry Williams, this union lasted for 57 years!! She relocated to MN in 1967 and worked at Dayton Hudson Café and retired from Northrup Seed Company after nearly 20 years of service. A true singer to heart, Dorothy sang with several quartet groups with her favorite being the Family Jubilee. She was a lifelong member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and served and worked under several pastors. While at Galilee Dorothy served on the Mother’s Board, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served wherever she was asked Dorothy was preceded in death by all her siblings except one. She leaves to cherish her memory one sister Frances Boone of Minneapolis, two sisters-in-law Marie Gardner of Birmingham, AL, and Hattie Reese, one brother-in-law Grant Williams of Minneapolis. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
