Terry Tyrone Gray

Terry (ted) Tyrone Gray was born November 18th, 1968, in Monroe, Louisiana. On October 16th, 2024, he was called home to be with the lord. Terry was baptized in Monroe, where he accepted Christ at an early age, guided by a close-knit community and the support of friends and extended family. He graduated from Wossman High School in 1986 and then went on a baseball scholarship followed by service in the United States Army before moving to Minnesota. Terry was the first in his family to relocate to Minnesota, a decision that paved the way for a new chapter of many of his loved ones. Terry helped numerous family members follow in his footsteps, assisting and supporting each one as they settled into their new lives. As a young adult Terry began building a life full of hard work and dedication. During this time, he got married and raised his beloved stepdaughter and two Rottweiler's. During his career, Terry managed several well-known restaurants and in every role, he not only excelled professionally but also spread joy and love to those around him. He built lasting friendships with both colleagues and customers, always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, or his warm, contagious laughter. Terry was an exceptional mentor and leader who believed deeply in the potential of the teams he managed. Terry saw the best in everyone, offering encouragement, compassion, guidance, and the unwavering support of a true cheerleader. He is survived by his mother, Janie Williams (Carl Williams); siblings, Carlos Gray, Monice Gray-Hood, Rodney Gray, Marlon Gray, Frederick Gray, Dilcy Rilla, Angela Rilla-Gaines, Donna Rilla Reitzel and Lee Ballard-Rilla. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Christina Jacobson, grandson Charlie Jacobson and many extended family members, including in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Lee (Tiny) Rilla. This loss has left an unimaginable void in our hearts and lives, as terry was truly a light to everyone he met. His laughter, kindness, and generous spirit were magnetic, and his love for life, family, and friends knew no bounds. Terry has a unique ability to make every person feel special, affirmed, and seen, and his impact will be felt for years to come.
