Kennetta Turner

Obituary God gracefully gifted us with Kennetta “Ken” Turner who was born on March 13th, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois to Ethel Mae Turner and McKinley Thorn (both who preceded her in death). She was a ball of sunshine and had a love like no other. Anyone who knew her or met her felt that. When she was younger she attended Coleman Elementary and DuSable High schools. She furthered her education taking classes at Kennedy King College while also working at Chic Rick’s and Moo & Oink. In 1997 she moved from Chicago, IL to Minneapolis, MN which became her forever home. Shortly after she moved, the love of her life, Willie Peters relocated as well. In 2008 they jumped the broom and became husband and wife while on vacation in Georgia. She loved to cook, so she decided to attend Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) where she received her associates for culinary arts and had a dream of opening her own restaurant. She went on to use her cooking skills working in the deli/hot bar at Walmart. But her true cooking skills were best enjoyed when she prepared meals for family events. She threw down in the kitchen like nobody's business and everyone enjoyed her food. She was a kind, caring, loving, understanding and giving woman who would help anyone who crossed her path to the best of her ability. Part of her nurturing and caring abilities lead her to start her own home-based daycare center. Family was very important to her. She has a lot of blood family but, nearly everyone she met became a part of her family as well. She loved to celebrate whether it was for birthdays, holidays or simply just because. She wanted everyone together to show love to one another. Seeing everyone happy, laughing and loving each other made her smile. She enjoyed reading her bible, sharing daily prayers with her family, singing, dancing, listening to music, giving/receiving gifts and watching tv. Kennetta was a proud mother of four beautiful children Tonya, Alysha, Kierra (preceded in death) and Kavion. She had eight grandchildren Kiyoltan, Khalil, Kamiya, Alvontae, Kennetta, Kionte, Keondre and Jarrell. Three great granddaughters A’layah, Khaliiah and Kayliah. She leaves to cherish her wonderful loving legacy to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and siblings Maternal: Brenda Palmer, Lonnie Turner, Milton Turner (preceded in death), Sandra Turner-Robinson (preceded in death), Joyce Turner, Curtis Turner, George Turner (preceded in death), Taffy Turner and Virgil Turner. Paternal: Deborah Spruell-Thorn (Preceded in death), McKinley Thorn Jr (preceded in death), Monica Thorn, Carolyn Jackson-Thorn, Kimberly Bluitt, McKinley Perry, Collette Perry (preceded in death), Crystal Perry (preceded in death) and Cynthia Hill as well as a host of other family and friends. She is truly loved and will be forever missed. Our Beloved Angel.
