Earnest Corderia "Cord" Claiborn SEPTEMBER 22, 1989 – JULY 4, 2026 Earnest Corderia “Cord” Claiborn was born to Earnest and Hazel Claiborn on September 22, 1989, in Greenwood, Mississippi. On July 4, 2026, at the age of 36, Cord’s earthly journey came to an unexpected end, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Cord’s life touched many, and his legacy will endure for generations. From an early age, he possessed a vibrant personality that naturally drew people to him. He was known for his infectious smile, uplifting spirit, and genuine love for others. Whether among family, friends, or strangers, Cord had a unique ability to make people feel seen, valued, and welcomed. Growing up in Mississippi and Minnesota, Cord attended Greenwood Public Schools and Bloomington Public Schools before graduating from Eden Prairie High School. During his high school years, he excelled in athletics, particularly football, where his talent, dedication, and competitive spirit earned him numerous accolades and recognition. Following graduation, he continued his education at Hennepin Technical College, where he earned a degree in Business Management. Cord was passionate about helping others and found fulfillment in serving his community. He worked as a Community Living Specialist with Reach for Resources, where he supported individuals with disabilities in achieving greater independence and enhancing their quality of life. His compassion, patience, and ability to connect with people made him especially well-suited for this role, and he touched the lives of many through his service and care. At an early age, Cord accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, was baptized in Jesus’ Name, and later received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. His love for God was evident throughout his life. One of his greatest joys in ministry was playing the drums, using his musical gift to help lead worship and create an atmosphere of praise. Through his service and faithfulness, he blessed countless lives. While Cord enjoyed many things in life, nothing brought him greater joy than being a father. He cherished his daughter, Mya, and son, Andrew. Family meant everything to Cord, and he made it a priority to stay connected with those he loved. He loved spending time with family, making people laugh, encouraging those around him, and creating lasting memories with the people he loved most. Cord will be remembered for his loving heart, outgoing personality, thoughtful spirit, and willingness to help others. He had a gift for uplifting people, and his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Those who knew him best often described him as compassionate, generous, fun-loving, and full of life.
