Casandra Williams-Sims

On Monday January 30th, 2023 Casandra Williams – Sims, 69, became absent from her body to be present with the Lord. Casandra was a light in this world, her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. With her love for the Word of God, she transformed the lives of so many people across multiple generations as a bible study teacher and children’s ministry leader. During her time with us, she made a point to always help anyone with whatever she could, never second guessing her decision. Anyone who knows Casandra, knows that her family meant everything to her, and in her eyes, each of you reading this was family. Casandra Williams-Sims (more affectionately known as Sandy) was born August 20, 1953, in Wichita Falls, TX to Robert and Marietta (McKinnies) Williams. Casandra attended Horace Mann Middle School and Washburn High School both in Minneapolis, MN. She furthered her education at Mankato State University pursuing a degree in Art. She graduated from Northwestern Bible College with a bachelor’s degree in Theology. Casandra gave her life to Christ in 1975 when she was invited to attend a revival by friend Melanie Dixon (Miles), she then joined Evangelist Crusaders Church. In 1976, she married Henry Sims; to this union, they were blessed with eight children. Casandra retired From ECRTC in 2010. After her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren, and painting beautiful original pieces, as she was a talented artist. She was a huge fan of the 70’s hit band Earth, Wind & Fire; and enjoyed trying to teach her children the “football dance.” Casandra was preceded in death by her husband Henry Sims, father Robert Williams Sr, and brother Don Williams. She is survived by her mother Marietta Williams, sister Debra Jones (James Jones, deceased), brothers Rasheed Bilal (Latifah) and Randal Williams; her eight children, Derrick Williams (Haley), Danelle Sims, Alicia Sims, Aaron Sims (Jo), Casandra Sims, Cristen Sims, Andrew Sims (Tai), and Kyle Sims; 11 grandchildren Kaleb, Teal, Asya, Kalin-Sue, Kylei, Jaden, Michael Coy, Dilynn, Tyler, Mila, and Tyson; 2 great grandsons Kairo and Senju-Ken; and a host of in-laws and nieces and nephews. “…but As for me and my house, we will serve the lord” Joshua 24:15
