Carl Edward Rogers

Carl E. Rogers passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2025. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 3, 1964, and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, after being relocated by his mother, Geneva Rogers Nesbitt. As the first-born of seven children, Carl took his role as the big brother very seriously, always looking out for his siblings with love and protection. From a young age, Carl was known for his resourcefulness—learning to cook, clean, and even braid hair, often using his siblings as willing participants in his practice. Carl had a passion for reading and writing, with a particular talent for penmanship. His love for music and dancing was infectious, and he shared countless joyful moments with his brothers, often jokingly referring to themselves as the "Jackson 4." Together, they formed an inseparable bond that defined his childhood years. Known for his adventurous spirit, Carl lived life fearlessly and was never afraid to take risks. His sense of humor was unmatched, and he had the remarkable ability to make anyone laugh until they cried. Although his stubbornness sometimes led him into challenging situations, Carl embraced the consequences with resilience and moved forward, always with a smile. Carl's life was forever changed when he met his first love, Carolyn Upchurch, and together they welcomed their daughter, bringing Carl the joy of fatherhood. His last employment was with B & K Relocation LLC, his family business in Eagan, MN, where he worked with pride side by side with his nephew and friends to help strengthen and stabilize the company. Carl was deeply heartbroken at the announcement of the passing of our beloved Uncle Matthew Bobby Kyles. The loss was profound, but amidst the sorrow, Carl chose to honor Uncle Bobby’s life with boundless joy and passion, surrounded by family. The memories of laughter, love, and togetherness will forever be cherished, a priceless gift that keeps them alive in our hearts. In his later years, Carl found peace in his faith. Despite the struggles he faced, he devoted himself to reading God’s word and spending time in prayer. Carl leaves behind to cherish his memory daughters: ZaPhaniah Rogers, Sherice Rogers, and Brittany (Jessica) Rogers, as well as his son, Marcus Rogers, all of Racine, WI. His grandchildren—Laurice (Mercedes) Brown, Na'Vion Rogers, A’mya Rogers, AnJavian Joplin and Antonia Broadnax —will carry his memory forward. He is also survived by his mother, Geneva Rogers Nesbitt of Racine, WI, and his siblings: Darryl Bass of Milwaukee, WI; Henry (Samantha) Soll Jr. of Tulsa, OK; Beverly Soll Rogers of St. Paul, MN; Cecil Rogers of Waukesha, WI; LaShawn Rogers Pitt of Racine, WI; and his step-sister, Joyce Bean of St. Louis, MO. Favorite cousin (brother) David Wayne Shannon. Carl also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, (grand and great) relatives, and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his Sister Bell Austin. Stepfather Henry Soll Sr. Father figure James "Big Daddy" Nesbitt. Grandparents: Robert Rogers and Myrtle Rogers-Kyles. Nephew Jayson J. Earl. Uncles: John “Bay Bug” Rogers; LC Peter Kyles; Matthew Bobby Kyles. Aunts: Pinky Lee Cherry; Loubirda Gunn, Arma May Shannon, Annie Myrtle Pierce. Carl’s legacy of love, laughter, and strength will forever be remembered by those who knew him.
