Brenda Jean Abari

July 20, 1946 - January 15, 2022

At her residence, Brenda Jean (Maxie) Abari of Minneapolis, Minnesota, died on Saturday, January 15, 2022. She was 75. On July 20, 1946, she was born in Port Arthur, Texas. She attended Lincoln High School and received her undergrad at Prairieview. A & M University in Port Arthur, Texas and her Masters in Special Education from Mankato State University in 1989. In 1985 Brenda married the love of her life Dola Abari, and they parented three beautiful children, Ashanti (Samuels), Anthony Abari and Saidat (Vandenberg). Brenda worked as a teacher for the Minneapolis Public School System for over 38 years and worked as a skilled seamstress. Her passion for sewing began at Dayton's Department Store, which turned into her own sewing business for many years. She served as a member of the Nigerwives Club and the Teachers Association Club. She was a cherished member of the Zion Baptist Church for over 40 years. A unique soul, Brenda had a sense of humour known to her family and close friends. She especially enjoyed travelling, fashion and making delicious meals for the people she loved the most. She will be greatly missed. Brenda is survived by her husband Dola Abari, her children Ashanti, Anthony, and Saidat, her grandchildren Rashad Samuels, Destiny and Isaiah Vandenberg, DaeVeon Brown, Kalileascia Abari. Brenda loved her many grandchildren, cousins and family in Texas very much. Her parents, Trueheart and Samuel Maxie were predeceased, and her brother Vernon Maxie.
